The Arctic Museum Nanoq is run by the association Nanuk r.f. The association was founded in 1988. The founder of the museum and association is Pentti Kronqvist, who is the director of the museum as well. Kronqvist has built the museum together with approximately 40 volunteers.

Nanoq has one fulltime employee, a curator, and three guides working during the peak season (June-August). The largest sponsors of the museum in 2010 were Svenska Kulturfonden and Svenska folkskolans vänner.
